Calculate your transport energy consumption and pollution
Our shipments use very little energy and produce extremely low emissions. Our electric locomotives are powered by hydro-electricity. Can your company contribute to more environmentally friendly freight flows?
CargoNet is taking steps to reduce energy consumption:
In 2009, CargoNet put 10 new CE 119 electric locomotives into service which will reduce energy consumption by as much as 30 % compared to older units. These modern locomotives can generate new electricity when braking.
During the summer of 2010, CargoNet put into service 6 new CD312 (Vossloh Euro 4000) diesel locomotives. Their engines are 30 % more powerful than those they have replaced. This has resulted in greater train capacity. The energy consumption of the engines will be about half of that which lorries would consume on the same diesel route.
And in 2011 a major part of our shunting locomotives are equipped with new diesel engines reducing fuel consumption by almost 50 %.
Perform environmental calculations for your shipments at environmentkcalculator Ecotransit. You can calculate what your shipments can save the environment if you choose to send them with CargoNet.

More about the climate and acid rain: Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an extremely important climate gas, which helps determine the average temperature on earth. Acid rain is primarily due to acids containing sulphur and nitrogen. Acid rain is a significant environmental problem which has a tremendous impact onour natural environment. Scientists have tried to calculate how much acid rain the natural environment can tolerate. Find more on this subject at www.environment.no/Topics/Air-pollution/
